Workshop with Sabin Parzer Touch is one of our most essential human experiences. We need touch to feel connected, to orient ourselves in the world and to experience ourselves in relationship with others. It is the first sensory system to develop in the womb and remains deeply connected to the nervous system throughout our lives. Before we have language, we communicate through touch. The skin is our largest sensory organ and our interface with the world. Through an intricate network of sensory receptors and nerves, it receives information about pressure, temperature, vibration, movement, pain and proximity. Touch can influence breathing, muscle tone, attention and emotional states, while the nervous system continuously responds to whether contact feels supportive, neutral or threatening. Touch is never purely physical. Who touches whom, when, how and under which circumstances is shaped by culture, gender, power and social norms. In a society increasingly marked by physical and social isolation, our relationship to touch also becomes a cultural and political question. We will work with: • The neurobiology of touch — sensory receptors, nerves and nervous-system responses • Skin as a sensory organ — pressure, temperature, vibration, pain and orientation • Qualities of touch — weight, pressure, speed, direction and their movement qualities • Fascia & connective tissue — exploring touch and movement through the body's continuous web • Touch & regulation — breathing, muscle tone, attention and states of activation or relaxation • Pain, pleasure & boundaries — sensitivity, consent, choice and personal needs • The politics of touch — culture, power, gender, social norms and access to physical contact This workshop is open to everyone with basic experiences in movement, dance and/or bodywork and is also a part of the Advanced Teachers Training (ATT) - Module Communication. This workshop will be held in both German and English. Price: € 630,- / TT's € 570,- / ATT-Module € 630,- TT price: applies to anyone who is currently participating in a Holistic Dance Teachers Training or has successfully completed one in the past. ATT price: applies to anyone who registers for the workshop as part of the Advanced Teachers Training. There are 2 discounted workstudy places per workshop.
